The collection consists of hand-painting on ceramic tiles.
It involves transferring a painting from paper to a tile and takes 12 steps since the artist has to wait for each colour to dry before adding the next.
Their beautiful features are only achieved by fusing ceramic glazes with other materials and fired at around 1,000oC.
“It is the time to be most meticulous because if it fails it will not have the same colours as the paper and we have to do again,” Son said.
“I want this collection to reflect my love of nature, flowers in bloom, silhouettes of trees at sunset, and lines of swaying trees in the autumn.
“Working with a new medium has expanded my artistic horizons, forced me to push my own boundaries as an artist.
“I am sure visitors to the exhibition will be delighted with what they see.”
Each signature tile only has five copies each costing VND1.7 million to 2.8 million. Son, born in 1977, graduated from the HCM City Fine Arts College in 2000. He has held painting exhibitions around the country since.
