Blending together tradition and modern influences, the show includes ten sculptures by Le Cong Thanh and 20 paintings by his wife Nguyen Kim Thai.
Born in 1931 in Da Nang, Thanh graduated from the Ha Noi Fine Art School in 1962. Last year the Vietnamese artist took part in the exhibition Good Morning Viet Nam, Good Morning Korea in South Korea. His efforts helped boost cultural exchanges between the two countries, according to director of the Korean Cultural Centre Kim Sang-ug.
Thai graduated from the Ha Noi Fine Arts School in 1972. Her work centres on oil-painting, lacquer and silk. She is known as one of the foremost female artists of the doi moi (renewal) period.
The couple had exhibitions in France in 1997 and 2004. — VNS
