According to director of the programme, People’s Artist Tran Binh, different art forms, including traditional song and dance, chamber music, fashion featuring contemporary music, will be presented during the eight-day event.
A concert featuring well known repertoire by Russian and Vietnamese composers will bring together artists who have spent years studying in Russia like the well-respected violinist Bui Cong Duy, pianist Vu Ngoc Linh, soprano Bich Thuy and bass Quoc Hung. The group, along with veteran pianist Tran Thu Ha, violinist Ngo Van Thanh, and cellist Tran Thi Mo, who also are veteran lecturers of the National Institute of Music, will also perform at the concert.
“To lighten the atmosphere and make it appealing to younger audiences, we plan to perform some trendy Russian songs. We may even ask the young singer Luu Huong Giang to join us as she the ability to warm things up on stage,” Binh said.
All the artistic performances will be staged by 50 artists of the Central Light Music Theatre.
A fashion show featuring traditional costumes of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups as well as the ao dai (traditional dress) will be presented by 12 models and dancers.
Together with the art performances, a film festival is also being organised in both cities. Some national and international award winning movies will be screened including Rung Den (Black Forest), Song Trong So Hai (Living in Fear), and Chuyen Cua Pao (Pao’s Story).
A photo and painting exhibition, and a food fair, which will open its door to the public in Moscow and St. Petersburg, will offer visitors opportunities to gain insight on Viet Nam.
“Among the artists who will perform during the Days of Vietnamese Culture in Russia, there are several who have been trained in Russia. In addition, there are many Vietnamese expatriates who will want to relive their memories,” Binh said.
The first Days of Vietnamese Culture in Russia programme took place in 2004. — VNS
