HCM CITY (VNS)— Dinh Quan, considered one of Viet Nam’s most talented lacquer artists, is showcasing his latest works in an exhibition in HCM City.
The exhibition, called Tinh (Purification), features nine large-sized works with images of pregnant women that Quan uses to express his feelings and thoughts about the real world and Zen Buddhism.
They include Khoi Dau (The Beginning), Doi (Waiting), Dem Dai (Long Night), and Sang Som (Early Morning).
Quan was born in the northern coastal city of Hai Phong in 1964, and studied lacquer painting at the Ha Noi Fine Arts College before graduating in 1990.
He has held individual and group exhibitions across Viet Nam and in countries like China, Japan, France, the US, and the UK. The exhibition, at Eight Gallery, 8 Phung Khac Khoan Street, District 1, will go on until August 8.-VNS
