The Journey of Fate with Tourism and Art
Hưởng graduated from the University of Industrial Fine Arts. After graduating, to make a living, he ventured into the tourism industry, achieving considerable success with a travel company. Later, he became known as ‘the master of art’ upon the establishment of the Nguyen Art Gallery in 2006, which also proved to be very successful. However, he continued to grapple with the aspiration of someone who studies and practices applied art and design – the ambition to create something beautiful that becomes a focal point in people’s daily living spaces.
Having had the opportunity to travel to many places and explore the cultures of various countries worldwide, he always harbored a dream to leave a mark by utilizing the knowledge acquired in the field of applied art and design.
Huong’s interest was piqued upon serendipitously spotting a strikingly beautiful and unique flower vase crafted from colored pencils. It brought back memories of a colored pencil box gifted by his father during childhood, prompting him to ponder how it was made.
“For a graduate of industrial fine arts, the need to create something, a personal product, is substantial. Additionally, owning a travel company and having the privilege to travel globally, I admire the various home decoration styles, especially those small, lovely corners that embody the soul of the house and its owner. I’ve always aspired to create something exquisitely beautiful that could serve as a focal point in a space, be it a living room, bedroom, or a specific decor corner. That’s the inspiration behind starting the Henry Le Design brand,” he explained.
His journey with colored pencils, while producing exquisite creations, proved to be financially demanding. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Lê Xuân Hưởng’s wife and CEO of Viet Vision Holdings, recalled the initial challenging period when Hưởng was engrossed in his colored pencil endeavors, neglecting the management of their company, causing her concern: “Individuals, even entrepreneurs with artistic talent, always live in their own world. I was frustrated and concerned about the money spent on it.”
“Until one day, he shared with me the intense dedication to the product, to the Henry Le Design brand, and the works produced from colored pencils, under his ideas, truly representing his passion. That’s when I understood his true passion, the discovery of his passion, and what he wanted to contribute to life. I told him, ‘Then, I will support you.’ The products crafted from these colored pencils truly come to life. We, as a couple, brainstormed ideas to integrate these products more closely with people’s lives,” Ha recounted.
One of the first colored pencil desks was bought by Mr. Bruce Mc Doual, from Australia, who came to work in Vietnam. Mr. Doual shared, ‘I have never seen anything like this before, and I’m certain I never will in the future. Now I have a Henry Le Design piece in my room. On special Saturday evenings, when my wife and I entertain and enjoy a good meal and a bottle of wine with friends, all my friends ask me about my desk, where I bought it, as it looks amazing.
